Starting his career as a general contractor in 1968, Peter Malmgren quickly learned how to indentify and work with quality materials. From there he went on to use that knowlege to create custom funiture and home decor. He has been working as an artist and craftsman ever since.
Repurposed Barnwood
Here at The Barn Door we believe in giving antique wood a new lease on life! Not only is this eco friendly, it also allows people who would not normally get to experiance the beauity of these antique treasures a chance to have them inside their own home. Much of the wood Peter uses would have been buned or distoyed years ago, but he is passionate about making sure these rare treasures are salvaged and repurposed into beautiful artistic pieces.
Working with History
The wood we use is slavaged from buildings that are over 150 years old. The farm was orignally built by Diane Malmgren's family, and Peter and Diane live and work on this precious legacy. Everything that is used in these beautifully handcrafted objects is a carefully selected piece of history.
